Please note: For all travel locations we meet at the municipal parking lot to the west of the
Ingersoll Arena at 9:00 a.m., unless otherwise stated. For any activities at the Lawson Nature
Reserve, please go directly there. Participants are encouraged to take any necessary precautions should a resurgence of COVID-19 occur.
All activities are subject to change. We will do our best to notify in advance.

Saturday, March 15 /SPRINGWATER FOREST AND MAPLE SYRUP FESTIVAL
The Springwater Forest is a national rarity, a 150-hectare Carolinian Forest, which contains more endangered species than any other zone in Canada. The forest contains a diverse variety of interdependent animals and plants. We have often seen pileated woodpeckers do a fly-by. March also features the Maple Syrup Festival at the same location – great pancakes! A stop at the Aylmer viewing stands to watch migrating swans and geese is also an option for those interested. Saturday, May 3 / Birding at CALTON SWAMP
52591 John Wise Line, east of Carter Road
This property is a prime example of Ontario wetland. The property has been managed over the past few decades by Catfish Creek Conservation Authority in partnership with the Ministry of Natural Resources. Located near the Hamlet of Calton, the Complex is home to some of Canada’s most endangered species. The properties are managed to conserve the wetland and forest, provide habitat for priority species and to support seasonal uses including hiking, research, environmental education and nature appreciation. Saturday, June 7 – 9:00 a.m. meet at the Reserve / LAWSON NATURE RESERVE CLEAN-UP DAY
Community members are welcome to join us for clean-up activities at the Reserve, including trail maintenance, garlic mustard extraction and painting. Bring gloves, bug spray, and wear sturdy boots. This property is solely managed by volunteer hours. Helping hands are always greatly appreciated. Contact Meg, 519-485-4220.

We welcome newcomers to participate in any and all of our activities. We are interested in the development and preservation of nature in Oxford County.
